A BIT OF BACKGROUND

Hi, I'm Claire and the founder of Run & Reform
I was not a runner at school, in fact I would have done almost anything to get out of cross country. Fast forward to today and I have completed 16 marathons worldwide, including time-qualifying for World Majors; London, Boston and Chicago.
I have a daughter, another on the way, and a furry 4-legged daughter called Isla; all who have been my running partners their whole lives. I have been running regularly for the past 9 years and for me it is not just a sport, it is a vital element in my life providing both physical and metal benefits in equal quantities at all stages of my life whether that be pre-baby, during pregnancy and post-partum.
Why running and coaching?
Running is much more than a hobby for me, it makes up a huge part of who I am.
It has given me life long friendships, confidence, opportunities, travel experiences, responsibilities, challenges, the chance to escape the craziness of daily life, resilience, education and SO much enjoyment.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes it takes a lot of motivation to get out the door, especially on those dark, miserable evenings, or those gruelling 20 mile runs, however the feeling of completing a run always makes that initial bit of 'urrghh' worth it.
After having my daughter in 2024, I was desperate to get back into running but I found it very tricky, both physically and mentally. It was hard to recognise that your body needs time to recover and that you don't just 'bounce back'.
I also wanted to help others, especially women, on their own running journey, hence why I created Stroller Striders; a mum and baby group who meet one day each month in Fog Lane park for a run or walk with their baby in the buggy.
Completing my England Athletics CiRF qualification ensures that I have the correct skill and knowledge set to help coach others confidently, correctly and professionally.

Why Reform
From sustaining various running-related injuries over the past 9 years, as well as training for many marathons, running in pregnancy and returning to running post-partum, I respect and recognise the essential role that strength and conditioning plays in being a good runner. By being a GOOD runner, I don't mean pace or distance, I mean being INJURY FREE and being ABLE to run the distances you want.
As part of my monthly Stroller Striders, I have incorporated 20 minutes of strength and stretch exercises which are suitable for anybody, to include those who are pregnant, post-partum or recovering from injury.
I lead Runner's Reform; a strength and conditioning class specifically for runners, which is designed to improve lower body muscular strength, coordination, balance, stability as well as core strength.
